A.J. McCoy Prevails in Playoff to Capture PGA of Alberta Players Tour Event at Redwood Meadows Golf Club
18 June, 2026
CALGARY—A birdie-filled day and a clutch par in extra holes lifted Priddis Greens Golf & Country Club professional A.J. McCoy to victory at the PGA of Alberta Players Tour 1-Day event held Tuesday at Redwood Meadows Golf Club.
McCoy carded a six-under-par 66 to finish tied atop the leaderboard with fellow Priddis Greens pro, Jordan Bean, after 18 holes. With the championship requiring extra holes to determine a winner, McCoy remained steady under pressure, making par on the first playoff hole to secure the title.
The victory capped a composed round highlighted by precise iron play and a patient approach throughout the day.
"I had a lot of good numbers into greens and left myself with a lot of uphill putts," said McCoy, who carded an eagle on the 17th hole to earn his spot in the playoff. "I seemed to just have comfortable shots all day. Playing with two great guys, Matt and Tyler, kept it relaxed. I didn’t look at the leaderboard all day."
The playoff provided a fitting conclusion to a tightly contested event.
"Being in a playoff against Jordie was awesome," McCoy added. "It was the most relaxed playoff I’ve ever been in. I love the guy. Hate to see him go down, but it’s also nice to get the win."
McCoy and Bean separated themselves from the field with matching rounds of 66, while David MacComb of Royal Mayfair Golf Club posted a five-under-par 67 to finish alone in third place.
