Ryan Cater joined Edge as the Director of Golf in February, 2021.
After turning professional in 2001 and achieving PGA of Canada Class ‘A’ PGA Member status in 2008, Ryan has been a teaching professional and golf academy program developer on multiple projects domestically and internationally. He has worked alongside some of the best instructors and specialists in the golf industry while developing and training players from beginners to professionals.
Raised in Oakville, Ontario and a graduate of Appleby College and Wilfrid Laurier University, Ryan grew up under the guidance and development program of Ben Kern at the National Golf Club of Canada as a junior and intermediate player. During his golf industry career as a teaching professional he also has Canadian Tour and international professional playing experience.
Ryan was an avid multi-sport athlete, and during university, he was a member of the varsity golf and ice hockey teams. He is a strong believer in developing well-rounded and life balanced athletes by encouraging them to gain experience and skills from various competitive experiences before deciding on what their true focus will be.
The Edge Program accomplishments to date:
- 2025-26, Senior College-Prep and Travel team, Varsity Team, & Junior Team.
- Fundraised and sponsored several players to attend or school through the Edge Foundation. Employ Alumni college players as well to assist with the program when they are home and to help with events.
- Produced 14 college golf scholarship players to date, more announcing soon!
- Annual title sponsor of Mapleleaf Junior Tour 3 events annually since 2022
- Assisted in developing VarsityGolfRecruiting.com with Jeff Hay for helping junior get recruited for NCAA play
- Development of College Golf Experience camps to Canada (Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto) bringing over 25+ NCAA college coaches to Canadian soil for the first time
- Brought the Bill Harmon Footprint Tour charity to Canada 2024 & 2025
- Volunteer Provincial Coach for Team Alberta for the Boys Junior Americas Cup team 2022-2024 and Girls Jr Americas Cup team 2025
- Currently developing the new College-Prep Golf League events and travel team programs for academies and a schools to give fellow industry professional increased opportunities through participation.
