I was born in 1983 in Sudbury, Ontario, and grew up in the small, fully French-speaking town of Hanmer, just 15 minutes north of Sudbury. I attended French elementary and high school, which deeply shaped my upbringing and identity. My parents, Rick and Darlene LeBouthillier, now live in Ottawa, along with my sister, Rebecca Montgomerie, and her children, Brooklyn and Tyson. In 2014, I married my incredible wife, Leah, and together we have two wonderful children: Carter Denzel, born on December 9, 2016, and Sadie, born on July 5, 2022. My family is my pride and joy, and they’ve shown me what life is truly about.
After high school, I moved to Orillia, Ontario, to attend the Professional Golf Management (PGM) program at Georgian College—my first experience in an English-speaking school. A week after graduating, I set out for Calgary and began my career as an Assistant Golf Professional at Elbow Springs Golf Club. Over six years there, I developed my teaching skills, particularly in my first two years as the sole PGA Professional on staff. This period sparked my passion for tournament golf, which I pursued further by competing on the Gateway Pro Tour in Phoenix over five winters. Playing alongside top competitors highlighted areas of my game that needed improvement. Although I made a few cuts and earned a bit of prize money, the experience elevated my skills and established me as a strong player in Alberta.
By 2011, I had already secured a few PGA of Alberta wins, including one two-day event. That winter, I trained with Mike Bender in Florida, and upon returning to Alberta, my tournament performance surged. Since then, I’ve won 15 more events, including three out of our four majors. To date, I have achieved over 20 PGA of Alberta wins, finished as runner-up in the PGA Assistants Championship of Canada, and represented the PGA of Alberta Assistants team four times
After Elbow Springs, I sought a role that would teach me more about the business side of the golf industry. I joined Silver Springs Golf Club and spent five years working with an exceptional team under Sheryle Rowland, where I learned valuable lessons about the golf business. Later, I transitioned to Lynx Ridge Golf Club, where I made teaching my top priority. In late 2016, I was thrilled to be offered the Head Professional position—a role I had always dreamed of. However, balancing the demands of being a Head Pro with family life proved challenging, especially after the birth of my first child. The long hours were unsustainable, so I made the decision to become a Teaching Professional at GOLFTEC Beacon Heights, where I rediscovered my love for teaching in a new way.
After four years at GOLFTEC, I teamed up with my good friend, Josh Fleming, to launch 365 GOLF, an indoor golf space where we could focus on teaching in a flexible schedule that supports a healthy work-life balance. Owning 365 GOLF has been a dream come true; it’s allowed me to dedicate my career to helping others #enjoythegame and #levelup their game, while spending more time with my family. Our thriving simulator league and the joy of teaching golf daily are immensely fulfilling. Together, Josh and I are living our dream, building a business that brings people closer to the game we love.
