Born in Elliot Lake Ontario. Doug joined the Alberta PGA in 1989.
His first postion was at the Windermere G&CC under Head Professional Bill Carrington.
After 10 great years at the Windermere Doug moved on to join Kerry Ketter at the Derrick G&CC for 3 more years.
With a great passion for teaching golf, Doug decided to set his focus on just that, contributing his expertise to different facilities in the Edmonton region.
