I was born in England. My family moved to Canada in 1971. Calgary has been home to me ever since. Although I played a variety of sports growing up golf became a strong passion for me. I joined the Elks Golf Club as a 12 year old Junior. The following year I joined the Earl Grey Golf Club through their Guest Junior program. That same year I started working in the Backshop for Head Professional Andy Black. I was fortunate to have attended college in Arizona and Oregon and was named to the NJCAA 2nd All-American Team in 1987. In 1989 I turned Pro as an Apprentice then progressed to earn Class A status in 1994. Over the following years I learned a tremendous amount about teaching, coaching, club fitting and member programming. I also gained considerable knowledge of the many business aspects of operating a Pro-Shop, both as a Pro owned Pro-Shop under Andy and a Club owned Pro-Shop when I assumed the Head Pro position in the fall of 2003. There has also been a few tournament wins along the way. During the last few years as Head Pro I was very involved with the design and construction of the golf course renovation project with Architect Wayne Carleton as well as the amazing new clubhouse with Architects Gibbs Gage and Graham Construction. Both projects turned out great and were an extremely rewarding experience. After a 30 year career at Earl Grey I left in the fall of 2018. In 2020 I joined the Country Hills Golf Club to provide mentorship and overall operational support. At the end of September 2023 I wrapped up my tenure at Country Hills. Moving forward I am excited to explore all industry related and perhaps other opportunies.
