Michael Thompson

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, I grew up with two brothers and a sister, developing a lifelong passion for sport that led me to golf at age 12. In 2012, I joined the PGA of Canada and began my professional career at Niakwa Country Club, where I spent 5.5 years. During my tenure, I served as Director of Membership Services, overseeing a diverse portfolio that included membership marketing, communications, clubhouse operations, and event management. In 2017, I relocated to Vancouver to join Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club as Lead Associate Golf Professional. This role allowed me to further refine my expertise in member engagement, professional instruction, and operational leadership within one of Canada’s most prestigious clubs. In February 2023, I embraced a new chapter in Alberta, joining Windermere Golf & Country Club as Head Golf Professional. Here, I continue to build on my experience, leading club operations, enhancing member services, and mentoring the next generation of golf professionals.
