I was born in Ireland in 1942 and emigrated to Canada in 1964. Became a member of the Canadian PGA in 1968 and worked as an assistant to Ross Henderson at Williwdell GC. Niagara Falls. In 1971 I was hired as the Head Professional at Erie Downs GC in Fort Erie Ont. I moved to Saskatchewan as the Head Professional at Wascama CC in 1980 and left the club in 2000.
During my 20 years in Sask I served on the BOD for 10 years... I had 2 terms as President. In 1982 I was elected by the board as the Sask rep.to the National Board and served there for 12 years, serving as the President in 1989 and 1990.
After leavingWascana , I managed Greenhills GC for 2 years, then spent 5 years at Deer Valley. I retired briefly for a couple of years then but took a job with Scott Knapp as a part time teacher until retirement again in 2015.
The PGA Canada undertook a project which I believe started in 2021 to prepare a Diversity Equity and Inclusion document: there were 20 members in the task force, myself included and after 14 months we presented what is the 90 page paper presently in use by our association.
I have been retired for the last three years and have moved to Calgary where my partner recently became a Grandmother for the first time.
I have moved my membership to the Alberta zone and I look forward to that.
