Doug has been a member of the PGA of Canada for 26 years and recently joined the team at the Cottonwood Golf & Country Club as the Head Professional. The season prior he was on the team at the Glencoe Golf & Country Club in 2024 and previously served six seasons as the the Head Professional, Club House Manager & Tournament Director at the HeatherGlen Golf Club. Prior to returning to the Play Golf Calgary team Doug spent the 2018 season at the Silver Springs Golf & Country Club as the Ladies Liasion, League Director and the Manager of the Pro Shop & Back Shop teams. Before that he spent five seasons at Blue Devil (another Play Golf Calgary facility) to help with the growth and development of the club from it’s infancy. Over his career he has strived to grow the game at all levels, from beginners to those he is currently mentoring and working with to earn their Professional Card and status.

With a wide varierty of experience within the industy from Private, Semi-Private, Public & Resort courses he always finds time to stop and chat golf with anyone that is willing to spend the time.

Q. What do you enjoy most about the game and the business of golf?

Each day you get to talk about golf, everyone that enjoys the game is happy to tell tall tales and eager to listen.

Q. What or who influenced you in becoming a Golf Professional?

I played a number of sports growing up, but golf and a love of the game has always pulled me towards golf.

Q. What would you be doing if you weren’t a Golf Professional?

A golf professional, thats all I can see myself as. Since I was young.

Q. What is your favourite golf course in the world?

Pebble Beach

Q. Who is your favourite PGA Tour player?

Phil Mickelson, I mean who doesn’t love Lefty?!?

Q. What is the first club you take out of your bag on the driving range?

My 60 degree wedge to hit some small pitch shots

Q. What is the most number of holes of golf you have played in one day?

54 as a kid, we lived at the course during summer vacation

Q. What is your career low round and where did you shoot this score?

63 a couple of times, but the best was at Woodside in Airdrie to tie my little brothers course record!

Q. What significant accomplishments are you most proud of?

Growing the Ladies Game/League over my career at every course I have been a part of.

Q. What other interests, hobbies and passions can you share?

Curling, bowling - both 5 and 10 pin, fantasy football, and of course video games
