2019 Golf Rule Changes - Everything you need to know
The PGA of Alberta’s Education Committee is proud to present the second annual 2018 winter “Teaching Summit” hosted in the Arizona area. This 3-day educational event will give a select group of PGA of Alberta members (16 participant’s max.) to observe interactive lessons with two of the most sought-after instructors in North America – Gabriel Hjertstedt and Martin Chuck. During the 8-hours of instruction each day, participants will take a 60-minute lesson to work on their own game as well as develop their coaching skills by observing the other participants take their lessons, always with the ability to ask questions in real time to both student and teacher.
The combined cost of taking a single lesson with each instructor would normally cost in excess of $800 CAD but PGA of Alberta members will have access to 16 hours of instruction at a fraction of that cost. Full details of the PGA of Alberta “Arizona Teaching Summit” and biographies of the both instructors can be found below.
*Please note that their are limited spots available and will be given on a first come first serve basis.
Every other year the PGA of Alberta sends a Compensation Survey to the membership to complete. The survey is a very important tool for our Association as it allows us to give our membership the most current earning potential in each area of the province based on their position. The more surveys that are filled out, the more accurate both the averages and high/low points will be. Please take 5-10 minutes to fill out the survey. Once completed, you will be sent a copy of the results.
Every Member will receive 5 PD points for completing the survey!

Round two of the Sunice/Bobby Jones Fall Championship at Royal Mayfair GC in Edmonton saw plenty of action throughout the round making for an exciting day. Conditions were much improved from round one for the field with temperatures hovering around 15 degrees and having no rain on the course.
After a hard fought battle on the course, Wes Heffernan (Golf Canada Centre) emerged as the 2018 Fall Championship winner thanks to his superb round one of 6-under 64. Wes followed up his opening round score with a solid 1-under 69 today to hold off all competitors and securing his place as the Champion with a two-day total score of 133 (7-under).
Not without competition, Heffernan was challenged all day by Stefan Cox (Calgary G&CC) who shot the round-two low 4-under 66. Stefan’s efforts today secured his 2nd place finish in the Championship which included four birdies and fourteen pars to fall two shy of Wes at 135 total (5-under).
Finishing third in the Championship one back of Cox was local favourite Mike Belbin (Royal Mayfair GC). Playing at his home course, Mike had an excellent second round of 3-under 67 to finish with a total of 136.
Rounding out the top five was Riley Fleming (NGA Dome) finishing in fourth with a 139 (1-under) and Kent Fukushima (Redwood Meadows G&CC) in fifth with a 141 (1-over).

Wes was able to finish hole 18 with a beautiful 50-foot putt for birdie to increase his lead. Four strokes behind Wes in sole possession of second is Craig McArthur (Blackhawk GC) who finished round one with a score of 2-under 68. Close behind the two leaders in a four-way tie for third place is Riley Fleming (NGA Dome), Stefan Cox (Calgary G&CC), local fan favorite Mike Belbin (Royal Mayfair GC) & Greg McGarry (Glendale G&CC) who finished the first 18 holes with a score of 1-under 69.
